Speaker:

Do you know that you need to get yourself

Speaker:

outside your comfort zone more than you

Speaker:

did in 2024? To have more self

Speaker:

belief? To share that imposter syndrome

Speaker:

feeling that shows up? Today's episode

Speaker:

I'm going to tell you how you can set

Speaker:

yourself up to make 2025 the year that

Speaker:

you do all of those things.

Speaker:

I'm Ian Hawkins and this is Sporty's

Speaker:

life. The purpose of sport, as I

Speaker:

see it, is to see your vision become a

Speaker:

reality, find your voice, create

Speaker:

strong connections and learn to trust

Speaker:

your body.

Speaker:

If you want to increase your performance

Speaker:

in different areas of your life, find

Speaker:

more consistency.

Speaker:

Upgrade your personal brand

Speaker:

so that people take notice, so that

Speaker:

people can see just how valuable you are,

Speaker:

the impact that you are having and really

Speaker:

recognise that you're trying to

Speaker:

grow. One of the challenges that can come

Speaker:

up is imposter syndrome. That feeling

Speaker:

that you're not good enough. That feeling

Speaker:

that despite the fact that people might

Speaker:

look at you at a certain level or as an

Speaker:

authority or an expert or

Speaker:

or you have a certain role. Is part

Speaker:

of you that feels like a fraud?Because

Speaker:

there are times where you just don't get

Speaker:

it right and you have that thought. Lucky

Speaker:

they don't know what's going on in my

Speaker:

head. Lucky they can't see behind the

Speaker:

curtain and see what's really going on

Speaker:

'cause I'm not that good. That's what

Speaker:

that self doubt creeps in. And you may

Speaker:

have had those feelings or thoughts or

Speaker:

even identify with that term. Imposter

Speaker:

Syndra. Now, one of the ways that you

Speaker:

can change that requires you to get out

Speaker:

of your comfort zone. I want you to look

Speaker:

at it like this. Think about when you

Speaker:

have to go on a plane ride. Think

Speaker:

about for a plane,

Speaker:

well, not the plane itself, but the

Speaker:

actual trip. How many of the

Speaker:

different areas of

Speaker:

life show up on that trip if you're

Speaker:

going somewhere for work. Then it can

Speaker:

have you maybe working on the flight or

Speaker:

trying to switch off and relax. Maybe

Speaker:

you've not slept enough if you if it's an

Speaker:

early start or, or maybe it's you're

Speaker:

excited, you're going on holiday

Speaker:

and you're just absolutely pumped

Speaker:

for the trip. Maybe it's been the end of

Speaker:

a long period of time and you're actually

Speaker:

exhausted heading on this trip and and

Speaker:

you're trying to get yourself recharged

Speaker:

for the holiday. For some people,

Speaker:

flights are scary.

Speaker:

They find it really quite challenging.

Speaker:

There's a social element. You're either

Speaker:

flying with people and you're you're

Speaker:

hanging out, you're chatting, but you're

Speaker:

also sometimes just talking to random

Speaker:

strangers. Or the real social

Speaker:

element, think about the plane

Speaker:

itself. It

Speaker:

requires it to be in balance and it

Speaker:

hits turbulence like we do in our life.

Speaker:

Now let's look at what gives the

Speaker:

plane the ability to actually fly.

Speaker:

To requires energy, it requires

Speaker:

structure, so it needs to be

Speaker:

built a certain way, So.

Speaker:

Of course it requires

Speaker:

navigation. It needs you need to know

Speaker:

where you're heading and you need to have

Speaker:

a map and a plan and you need to

Speaker:

be driving. It needs to be a pilot,

Speaker:

right? The environment is important.

Speaker:

You can't just take off in in anyweather.

Speaker:

And. Everything

Speaker:

has to be in the right place for you to

Speaker:

be able to move forward in that flight to

Speaker:

go well. Preparation, all those different

Speaker:

things. So if you look at that, how you

Speaker:

would look at your life.

Speaker:

All of those different areas of life, we

Speaker:

experience them all.

Speaker:

Now to be at our best and give ourselves

Speaker:

the best chance and make sure we get to

Speaker:

our destination safely, then you 2 need

Speaker:

to have a navigation system. You need to

Speaker:

have a game plan. You need to know what

Speaker:

you're working towards and you need to

Speaker:

have a plan, some structure on how to

Speaker:

actually get there. You need to have

Speaker:

energy. You can't keep burning

Speaker:

yourself out. You can't keep pushing

Speaker:

yourself to the limit. You can't keep.

Speaker:

Then what's the expression treating your

Speaker:

body like an amusement park on the

Speaker:

weekend? So putting the wrong things

Speaker:

in there. Pushing your body to limits

Speaker:

that maybe you you can't do anymore.

Speaker:

And not putting yourself in environments

Speaker:

that that aren't safe, that aren't good

Speaker:

for your health.

Speaker:

Because when you can get well, if you're

Speaker:

doing all of those things and you're just

Speaker:

going to keep yourself in that pattern,

Speaker:

you're going to when you hit that stage

Speaker:

of impostor syndrome or, or trying to

Speaker:

grow, then the way you've

Speaker:

been treating yourself and the lack of

Speaker:

energy is just going to really fuel that

Speaker:

self doubt. If you want to take

Speaker:

off, if you want to fly and you want to

Speaker:

actually go to all new levels. And of

Speaker:

course, get to your destination safely

Speaker:

and feeling strong and

Speaker:

energised. Then you

Speaker:

need to change some of

Speaker:

those patterns, some of those behaviours

Speaker:

and you need to get them right. So

Speaker:

if you've just got through this last year

Speaker:

and you feel like you're hanging on,

Speaker:

you're like hanging on to the wing or out

Speaker:

the window or, or you're on the

Speaker:

flight, but you're, you're not really

Speaker:

there. You're checked out, you're

Speaker:

exhausted, you're snoozing. Or maybe it

Speaker:

just feels like the flight is all over

Speaker:

the place, like there's a lot of

Speaker:

turbulence.

Speaker:

You're, you haven't got that steady

Speaker:

navigation and yeah, the

Speaker:

flight is literally jumping all over the

Speaker:

place. When, what do you need to

Speaker:

change? So that next

Speaker:

year, you finish the year with

Speaker:

momentum that you can take into the next

Speaker:

year. Because if you are feeling that

Speaker:

way, if you're feeling flat, then you can

Speaker:

take that momentum straight into the next

Speaker:

year. You can take your while to get

Speaker:

going. I equate it to

Speaker:

that when you're preparing for

Speaker:

something in a in a sporting context.

Speaker:

If you don't know what the next thing is,

Speaker:

what the next event is, what the next

Speaker:

thing you need to be working towards,

Speaker:

then you'll hit the end of a, a period of

Speaker:

time. Maybe you have a, an event or a run

Speaker:

a game and then you take your

Speaker:

foot off the pedal and you relax and you

Speaker:

won't have any of that momentum. But if

Speaker:

you know what's next, if you've got a

Speaker:

game the next week or you know that

Speaker:

you've got a pre-season starting, or if

Speaker:

you're, if you're a runner or a cyclist,

Speaker:

you've got another event coming up and

Speaker:

it's booked in and. You give yourself

Speaker:

some time off, but you'll get yourself

Speaker:

back on track now, next year, if

Speaker:

you don't know what you're working

Speaker:

towards and you don't have a plan. And of

Speaker:

course, imposter syndrome is going to

Speaker:

creep in because you'll start to have

Speaker:

doubts when you're not prepared, when you

Speaker:

haven't got things in place, when you

Speaker:

haven't got energy. And

Speaker:

you're not in an environment that's

Speaker:

conducive to growth to you improving

Speaker:

yourself and improving that personal

Speaker:

brand. So it requires you, excuse

Speaker:

me, it requires you to get outside your

Speaker:

comfort zone to be able to do that.

Speaker:

So this year nearly done,

Speaker:

but it's not you've not run out of time.

Speaker:

So like I've mentioned earlier in the

Speaker:

week, I'm running a free training to help

Speaker:

you get all these things in place to have

Speaker:

that self awareness of OK, what isn't

Speaker:

working at the moment, what has been

Speaker:

stopping me, what's been getting in the

Speaker:

way? Identify that resistance so

Speaker:

that you can have that action happening.

Speaker:

And then importantly. Find what the

Speaker:

best strategy is for you to move forward

Speaker:

and make next year the absolute best year

Speaker:

it can be. So go to the link in the show

Speaker:

notes Sporty's Life

Speaker:

Movement. You'll go in there and the

Speaker:

the training it's actually starts.

Speaker:

Today, when this episode is

Speaker:

released, but you'll be able to go into

Speaker:

the guide section of the

Speaker:

Facebook group and all of the training

Speaker:

will be in there and it's going to help

Speaker:

set you up for the new year. It's going

Speaker:

to give you all of the structure, some

Speaker:

planning, some self awareness

Speaker:

around where you're at and what needs to

Speaker:

change, and give you all of those things

Speaker:

you need to set yourself up for the best

Speaker:

year. I'll leave it there for

Speaker:

today if.

Speaker:

You know this is something you need, but

Speaker:

you're feeling like maybe you're tired

Speaker:

and you rundown. It's just questioning

Speaker:

like, can I just give myself?

Speaker:

These. Short bits of training to

Speaker:

get myself set up.

Speaker:

Just for this one last usher next year, I

Speaker:

can face it in a completely different

Speaker:

way. If you know you need

Speaker:

this but you're not quite sure if you got

Speaker:

the energy, then that might just require

Speaker:

some. Again, some honest self reflection

Speaker:

of making sure you.

Speaker:

Make this happen.

Speaker:

Even though maybe you're not feeling it

Speaker:

at the moment.

Speaker:

I said I was leaving it there. I kept

Speaker:

talking. I will definitely finish off

Speaker:

now. Have an awesome day. I'll speak to

Speaker:

you soon.

Speaker:

You've taken the time to listen to this

Speaker:

whole episode. Now it's time to take

Speaker:

action. Commit to one thing you've

Speaker:

learned today and make it happen. And to
